Spouse contributions are a great a way to help grow your spouse’s super
You may also be able to claim a tax offset on the super contribution.
A spouse contribution is a voluntary (after-tax) contribution made to your spouse’s super account. By making a contribution to your spouse’s super, not only are you helping them – you can also receive a tax offset (up to $540) for doing so.
You can contribute to MTAA Super for your spouse or your spouse can make contributions for you. A tax offset of 18% for spouse contributions of up to $3,000 is available if your spouse earns less than $40,000 in a financial year (including reportable fringe benefits and reportable super contributions). If your spouse has a total annual income of less than $37,000, you may be eligible for the maximum rebate of $540.
Any contributions you make for your spouse will count towards their after-tax (non-concessional) contribution limit (not yours).
Note: We can’t accept spouse contributions if we don’t have your spouse’s TFN.

Who’s eligible?
The definition of spouse includes your legal husband or wife or de facto and can be a same gender partner.
Spouse contributions can only be accepted if the spouse is aged less than 75. If your spouse is 67 to 75 years, they will generally need to satisfy a work test.Is there a contribution limit?

Note: If your spouse's total super balance exceeds the general Transfer Balance Cap (currently $1.6 million) you will not be entitled to a tax offset for spouse contributions.
