Our members are committed to supporting our community.
We’re passionate about connecting with and supporting our community and the future of the automotive industry and its people, and MTAA Super members support the Fund engaging in community and sponsorship activities.
Apprentice of the Year Awards
Every year MTAA Super sponsors the Automotive Apprentice of the Year Awards through the state and territory Motor Trade Associations.
The Awards celebrate and reward the hard work and dedication of young men and women throughout Australia who have excelled at their apprentice mechanic training.
The Awards open doors for winning apprentices and gives them the opportunity to get ‘behind the scenes’ and embedded within teams at Championship races such as Bathurst, Clipsal 500 Adelaide, and V8 Gold Coast.
MTAA Super is proud of our close connection with the automotive industry. Our sponsorship of the Automotive Apprentice of the Year Awards is another way we help celebrate and promote the diverse career opportunities in the auto industry.
MTAA Super is working with Lifeline Australia to encourage people to seek help when going through a difficult time. We do this by creating awareness of mental health issues and suicide prevention among our members and employers.
Our members and employers can access workshops, online videos and information on the services available and ways to recognise and respond when family or friends may need assistance and support.
Lifeline Australia is a not for profit organisation that delivers national counselling and support services including suicide prevention and awareness programs and mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

Mother's Day Classic
The Mother’s Day Classic – an annual walk or run event on Mother’s Day – is Australia’s biggest fundraising event for breast cancer research. Organised by Women in Super (WIS), the event brings together people from all walks of life who want to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
MTAA Super is proud to be a Silver Sponsor and long-time supporter of Mother’s Day Classic, providing volunteers, teams and Committee support. And in the last two years, our CEO Leeanne Turner has raised around $20,000 as a participant in the event.
We see it as an important investment in the future health of Australian women so they can have a happy and healthy retirement.
Virgin Australia Supercars Championship
We’re proud sponsors of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia’s biggest sports. Many of our members are supporters of the Championship so it’s a great way to connect with them about car racing and about superannuation.
We’ve also partnered with TeamVortex, the V8 Supercars race team created by Triple Eight Race Engineering (T8) and led by six times Bathurst winner and reigning King of the Mountain, Craig Lowndes. As an icon in the sport, Craig is a great representative of the Fund’s values - integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, community and mateship.
The partnership is another way we support the ambitions of apprentices to the motor industry. It gives apprentices in training the chance to visit and learn from race team personnel from the Triple Eight Race engineering workshop in Brisbane, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to be embedded within the race team during Championship race events. The partnership kicked off in March 2016 with the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
