Tell us a bit about your new website...
One of our key philosophies is to ‘make it easy’. We know that people are on the go and always busy so when we launched our new website in November 2017, we wanted to make every interaction easy for our customers.
With the new website, we can include more content and information about our brand, and it’s much easier for people to get in touch and find out what they need to know.
We’re able to track all queries to make sure they’re getting handled promptly and we can also better track traffic and usage of the site.
Our customers love it and have told us that it’s more modern, easy to follow and user friendly.
You’ve got over 17,800 Facebook followers. How have you built your audience on social media?
We started on social media when the business first opened and have slowly been building our audience since then. You need to find a good balance between content that’s interesting to your followers and sales content. Our aim is to provide an experience for our audience based around the iconic
Harley-Davidson brand so they can really enjoy what they’re seeing and feel like a part of the community.
To attract new people to our social channels, we use Facebook advertising and also encourage our new customers and website visitors to connect with us online.
What are some of the other ways you connect with your customers and prospects?
We run a number of events and encourage everyone to get involved. There’s the Gasoline Alley Harley Owners Group (HOG) Chapter, which our customers are encouraged to join. The HOG Chapter runs regular rides and has its own Facebook page and app for members with details of upcoming events and exclusive member content from Harley-Davidson.
There are monthly barbeques at the dealership, destination-based shop rides and event sponsorships such as Willowbank Raceway’s 'Race Ya Mate', where riders can take their own bike to the raceway and drag race their friends.
We also have a monthly newsletter that goes out to around 11,000 contacts. It includes articles and the latest offers, both from our store and from Harley-Davidson. It gives us the opportunity to stay connected with people on our database on a regular basis.
What involvement do you have with the broader community?
We support a range of charities including Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Australia, Ronald McDonald House and the Salvation Army. We do this by helping to raise community awareness of these causes and by donating the proceeds from our social events.
We also run a brand ambassador program with John Wayne Parr, a martial arts professional and Corey Parker, a former Rugby League Player — who are both Harley-Davidson riders. They attend our events, both external and in the store, and promote Gasoline Alley on their social media outlets, giving us reach into different demographics within the South-East Queensland community.
Why did you choose MTAA Super as your default super fund?
Doing our homework, it was one of the ones that stood out the most. It’s the industry super fund for the automotive industry and returns were substantially better than any of the other super funds we looked at.
How does MTAA Super support your workplace?
Our MTAA Super representative, Diedre Bell, has looked after us for the seven years we’ve been in business. Diedre is always very helpful and informative and keeps us up to date with anything that’s new in super.
We also get information from the MTAA Super website and use the clearing house service for making super payments. It’s really user friendly for uploading the monthly files and makes it much easier for us to make payments.
How can MTAA Super help your business?
We make administering super simple and efficient. To find out about the range of employer benefits and services we offer, go to our Employer Benefits page or call us on 1300 362 415.
