As the industry super fund for the motor trades, we’re passionate about road safety. Approximately two thirds of our members work for businesses dedicated to keeping Australia moving. That’s why we support Road Safety Education Limited’s (RSE) flagship road safety education program, RYDA.
RYDA is a series of practical and powerful workshops for high school students that aim to change the way young people think about road safety and lay the foundation for safe road use throughout their lives.
Education has long been recognised as a critical element in reducing road trauma — especially for young drivers and their passengers.
Coordinated with the assistance of Rotary Clubs, RYDA is delivered throughout Australia and New Zealand to over 50,000 high school students every year, through approximately 600 schools.
Since it started in 2001, over 500,000 students have attended the program.
Our support means more students can access the program and learn skills they will draw on again and again throughout their lives.
As a super provider, we are uniquely positioned to understand the value of investing in the future. By educating the next generation of drivers we can help reduce road fatalities and make our roads safer for everyone — now and further down the road.
If you have a loved one who is ready to get behind the wheel, the RYDA program is a great way to make sure they’re prepared for what’s around the next bend.
Facts & Figures
2001 - RYDA program launches: Australia’s annual road toll: 1,737 deaths total 450 deaths for people aged 17–25.

This year National Road Safety Week (NRSW) took place from 30 April to 6 May. The event aimed to highlight the impact of road trauma and promote initiatives to reduce it — such as the RYDA program.
To mark the occasion, national and state icons turned yellow and emergency vehicles, fleet trucks, cars, motorbikes and bicycles displayed yellow ribbons. MTAA Super turned yellow too! To help spread the word about road safety, we hosted our very own ‘wear yellow to work day’ and morning tea. We were delighted to be joined by special guests Peter Frazer (NRSW Founder and RYDA Ambassador) and Terry Briss (RSE CEO and Managing Director).
